Improving Email Deliverability in WordPress
When: Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 7:00 PM
Group: WordPress Lancaster
Schedule changes: meetups are now the 3rd Thursday of the month
This month Colby Weinhofer from Cascade WebWorks will be leading an open group discussion about how to raise the chance that emails from WordPress (whether it’s admin notices or form notifications) get delivered -- to the visitor and/or the site owner.
We'll need your experiences and contributions 💬. Even if you can't make it, please comment in the Slack channel with your thoughts. Pizza 🍕 and introductions at 7pm.
Here are some of the questions we’ll be discussing:
- Are any form plugins better than others?
- Does adding SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to the site’s DNS make a significant difference?
- What about using a host/server that does both web and email?
- Using a transactional email service (e.g. SendGrid): When is it appropriate? What to do when it's overkill? • What about using an SMTP plugin with the client's email account? • How do you protect against spam/hacking? tips, thoughts on sharing accounts among different sites • Any notable differences between admin emails and visitor-directed emails? • What about the "from" address? Should it be the visitors address or an address on the site’s domain? If it’s an address on the site’s domain, does the mailbox need to exist?
